Before deciding on which trend to use I looked at many trend reports,trend reports are important to the fashion industry as they show designers where to aim/target there designs to keep current and sell the most products. Yet still there are decisions to be made! Do they follow the trickle up or trickle down route? Trickle up is where inspiration is taken from street fashion and made main stream and trickle down is where inspiration is taken from the catwalks and high end designers.
Designers study trend reports to understand what is ‘in fashion’ or ‘on trend’ before they design a collection so that they can aim there collection towards these ideas. Unless you’re a designer like Katie Jones and don’t look at trends but have a specific target market in mind or just want to be different to everyone else and be ‘trendy’ by not being ‘on trend’!!

From all of the different trends I have looked at I decided on the trend named inverted colour/reversed blooms. I think this is more of a print trend than a design trend but I liked the interesting use of colour and the detail that the change/inverse of colour introduced to the images. I think that changing the colour creates a softer finish to the flowers and makes you look into the image rather than taking it for what it is.
I think using these on garment designs could create many interesting silhouettes and line/shapes as design features as well as using any one of these images as a whole print or part of a print on a garment. From the images and colours I made a trend board to support the trend that I had found:
